The idea that items lost at sea are washed away in different parts of the world is a romantic idea. For centuries, beach visitors have been looking for rare treasures and information in bottles along the coast. Ireland recently received a different gift from across the Atlantic. According to WMBF, a trash can from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina drove more than 3,000 miles to Mulany, Ireland, and the town of Mayo County is now using it for its original purpose.

Keith McGreal discovered this garbage container on the west coast of Ireland on Sunday, November 7. The Myrtle Beach sign outside it indicates that the container is far away from home. The Irish native notified the American city of his discovery via email.

The official Facebook page of the City of Myrtle Beach wrote in a post: “I don’t think I can be sure when it went missing, but it may have been during a storm or a storm. We usually clear the trash can from the beach before then. Hurricane, but this man obviously has his own ideas."

Although the Blue Barrel suffered some damage during the transatlantic voyage, it was intact in all respects. In addition to sticking to the label, judging from the photos shared online, the trash can also picked up some mollusks during the trip. It is currently used as a trash can on the coast, where it is recycled in Mulany, Ireland.

Although its appearance is noteworthy, the Myrtle Beach trash can is not the strangest thing to be cleaned on a foreign beach. After a container ship leak in 1997, loose Lego blocks have appeared on Cornwall beaches for decades.
